Party at the Monterey Wine Festival, visit one of the 46 wineries within driving distance, eat flowers at the Castroville Artichoke Festival.
SEE NATURE:
For Nature Lovers the Monterey Bay National Sanctuary is a great place to see whales on a boat trip, see the sea in a kayak or in huge tanks while safe on shore at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
You can see other water or bird life in tide pools while sleuthing at Elkorn slough on your own or on a guided tour. For land lubbers you may want to walk in the beautiful coastal Point Lobos State Reserve, in the wild Ventana Wilderness or just saunter down the Big Sur Coast. For the lovers of the dainty, the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary in Pacific Grove offers a wondrous sight from October 15 to February 15 after their flight from Alaska.
